My Home State "Mizoram"

This time i would like to write about my home state that is Mizoram. One of the youngest States of the Indian Union, it covers an area of 21,087 sq. kms. flanked by Bangladesh and Tripura in the West, Myanmar in the East and South, and Assam and Manipur in the North.

Aizawl, the Capital of Mizoram with a population of about three lakhs is a hill city humming with commercial, social and political activities, attuned to modern and westernised lifestyle. The State has eight districts and three Autonomous District Councils.The people are highly- cultured and sociable people without class or caste distinction and have a unique and colourful culture, which set them apart from others.

Mizoram is broken up lengthwise into five major mountain ranges gradually descending from the south to the north. The hills are rugged and their heights uneven. While the majority of them rise to about 900 metres on average, the highest and legendary mountain, Phawngpui or Blue Mountain as it is popularly known, towers to 2,065 metres.

Entry - 18 "Chapchar Kut"

Young & Old huge crowed gathered at A.R Ground
to celebrate CHAPCHAR KUT at Aizawl.

Banner to Welcome the People at the entrance.
CHAPCHAR KUT is one of the biggest festival we celebrate in Mizo Tradition. This festival is held at the time of the beginning of spring. This is the time of the year when they finish the jhum cutting, the most ardous part of the jhum operation. The respite between the jungle clearing operation and the burning of jhum becomes all the more enjoyable in the springtime. The cold spell of the winter yields to the spring and the trees put out fresh leaves and flowers blossom. Chapchar Kut is perhaps the liveliest of Mizo festivals observed as it is with great funfare and merriment.

I had attended the SILVER JUBILEE of Bishop Stephen Rotluanga, BISHOP OF AIZAWL, and the First Bishop of Mizo at St. Lawrence Campus. The Celebration was very grant and all the N.E Bishops have come to attend on this special day. People of Roman Catholic believers from Canada, UK, US, Italy come to witness this grand celebration. I personally feel great and happy to attend such a wonderful occasion. He is the second person elected as Bishop from original soil of the N.E State. The Catholic Mizos are very proud to have this kind of special person to be ordained, May God Bless and guide him to carry out his Mission in the days to come.

Entry - 16 "SOUVENIR"

In life time everyone had come across special person whom we always cherish their words, deeds, actions etc.. So this time I would like to write about my Ex-Boss DONALD WONG, whom I work with for around two years in Road Construction Company which is a Malaysian Based company Joint Venture with Indian Company and taking work under the World Bank Funded Road Project at Mizoram.

He is a man of hardworking, gentle, kind heart, loving, self sacrifice, good commanding skill, helpful, caring, understanding, honest, responsible, wise and reliable in nature. He is always ready to listen to his staffs in time of needs, trouble and always ready to help in any cost. Not only he had touch the heart of his Staffs but also many people who knows him from far and near, specially the people of Mizo where he render his great service for the development of Mizoram State.

The day of his departing is one of the remarkable and sadness day for all his staffs. None of the person is in the mood to work; every eye is filled with tears and moody face. This is the first time I have ever seen this kind of situation, where many staffs misses their Boss.

Not to forget his striking character I have notice in him is his concern about food, clothing and shelter for his staffs as this is the basic needs and requirement to all human beings. Is not it everyone is working for?? Yes, May be I am wrong or right. Lets keep this question to justify by each one of us.

I am very thankful to God for giving me a chance to work with this wonderful person DONALD WONG who gives abundant blessings to MY Country INDIA and the people of My State MIZORAM. I wish Him & Family good Health, mind, soul and prosperous success in the days and years to come.

Entry - 15 "The Power of Forgiveness"

There is a famous saying “Forgive and Forget”. Yes, I do belief this is easy to say but when you ponder for a while and think it over there are certain situation which sometimes you cannot forget.

One of my College friend says that “these words are easy to say, but when it comes into real situation sometimes it not possible”.

One of my colleague says that “Yes, I forgive but its not easy to forget which hurt my feels but I try my best to forget to look forward, if I ponder and think it over again there is no point instead I keep myself busy in work. It works wonders in my life why waist time, as time is so precious”.

One of my Senior colleague says “Forgiveness is vital in human life you must ask forgiveness when you are wrong. Admit your mistake life is always trial and error. We must learn to forgive each other”.

One of my junior friend says “It depends on the situation which comes to me. But, if I am right or true why should I ask forgiveness?”

To conclude from the above different opinion, we must learn to forgive each other despite it may be hard when it comes on our way but it brings happiness and joy to every human being in this living world. So,here a few words about:

THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS….

Decide to forgive
For resentment is negative
Resentment is poisonous
Resentment diminishes and devours the self
Be the first to forgive
To smile and take the first step
And you will see happiness bloom
On the face of your human brother or sister
Be always the first
Do not wait for others to forgive
For by forgiving
You become the master of fate
The fashioner of life
The doer of miracles
To forgive is the highest,
Most beautiful form of love
In return you will receive
Untold peace and happiness.

Entry - 13 "BE A WINNER"

The Winner is always part of the answer;
The Loser is always part of the problem.

The Winner always has a program;
The Loser always has an excuse.

The Winner says, “Let me do it for you’;
The Loser says, “That is not my job”.

The Winner sees an answer for every problem;
The Loser sees a problem for every answer.

The Winner says, “It may be difficult but it is possible”;
The Loser says, “It may be possible but it is too difficult”

When a Winner makes a mistake, he says, “I was wrong”
When a Loser makes a mistake, he says, “It wasn’t my fault”

A Winner makes commitments;
A Loser makes promises.

Winners have dreams;
Losers have schemes.

Winners say, “I must do something”
Losers say, “Something must be done”

Winners are a part of the team;
Losers are apart from the team.

Winners see the gain;
Losers see the pain.

Winners see the potential;
Losers see the past.

Winners stand firm on values but compromise on petty things;
Losers stand firm on petty things but compromise on values.

Entry - 11 "You Must Not Quit"

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you a have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns.
And many a failures turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow-
You may succeed with another blow!
Success is failure turned inside out-
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never tell just how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far.
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit-
It’s when things seem worst that YOU MUST NOT QUIT.

It’s Christmas time!! Everyone is excited as this is one of the biggest celebrations in Mizoram. People are care free, visiting one another and gift exchange at this grand season. I am off from work and travel out of Aizawl. Its one of the best trip I ever enjoy until now. First landed at Champhai spent few hours and proceed to Mayanmar to visit RIH Lake one of the important place in Mizo history. This RIH Lake is studied in one of the paper in Mizoram Board School Syllabus. The people life is very hard at Mayanmar as the Govt. is very weak and slow in the progress of their country. People are hard working to earn their livelihood. According to my opinion Mayanmar is very much backward than India just hope that the Government will change some days into Democratic Country. Very much appreciate and support Ms. Sui for her fight towards it betterment of her country to change into Democratic country.

I attend the Mid Night Mass service at HOLY CROSS CHURCH, Champhai which is one of the pioneer Roman Catholic Church in Mizoram. People are nice and their warm welcome words will always remain in my heart. I also visited my College friend Ms.Zonuni who had invited us to her house for lunch it is a great privilege for me to meet her again after 5 years of gap. We chit chat for quite sometime narrating the past life we have spent together in the hostel its fun he..he..he..

ZOFEST OF 2006 was held at A.R ground, Aizawl. This Zofest is held for two days to show the origin of Mizo clan to the younger generation. There was a beautiful show on Mizo traditional dress of different Mizo clan who comes to this Zofest from different parts of N.E States. It was very beneficial for me particularly as i have not seen our different kinds of traditional costume. The art of creativity and variety of mix beautiful colors of the shawls/puan and Kawr Chei of the designers of our yester years descendant were highly appreciated. Each of the traditional dress wore by its different clan has its own symbol and meaning which is difficult to explain for me…

I just wanted to jot down a few appreciation words to the present MZP under its Leadership of Mr. P.C Laltlansanga the then President and all his colleagues for their hard work and self sacrifice to bring the ZOFEST successful one. Their contribution towards the motherland to bring peace, love, harmony and unity to the Mizo nation is highly appreciated.

Besides its traditional costume show, the food stall, handicraft stall ets which brings its uniqueness to ZOFEST was very much attracted to me. The ZOFEST was held for two days but due to the busy schedule of works I cannot attend on the first opening day but can get to fix up to attend on the next day accompanied by my colleagues. We all enjoy and find its beneficial.
